These teams and coaches should be recognized for their contributions to building successful XC programs.
Year-after-year Bravo Medical fields the largest XC teams in City and their reward is continually top-ranked teams and indiviuduals.
Mario Castillo recently took over the Taft program and in less than two years has brought both the boys and girls teams into the upper echelon of division 1.
San Pedro coach Jeff Atkinson has had a rough go this year with injuries but the future is bright with a program that is growing large (with a strong freshman and sophomore contingency) after the double-hit of COVID and losing their coach of over 20 years. This is a program on the cusp of doing some special things.
Also, very happy to see Birmingham on this list. For those of you who don’t know CIty history, Birmingham was a dynasty in City XC over the last 20 years. The program almost disappeared in the last 2 years but coach Cristopher Garcia looks to be moving the team in the right direction.
