Girls Results

In the first City XC meet in 21 months at Pierce College the Granada girls didn’t miss a beat, winning all 3 races with perfect scores. The girls Varsity team beat their team-time at the ‘19 West Valley League Cluster #1 by over a minute. Junior Jocelyn Pacheco won in convincing style, leading the race from start to finish and recording a course PR of 20:11.3. Isabel Castagnola ran a course PR on her way to 2nd place with the fastest last mile on the day. The biggest surprise was freshman Meztli Velasquez who placed 5th in the Varsity race and easily broke 22 minutes on her first run at Pierce. Incumbent City champion Sofia Abrego, who continues to rebuild from a 2020 ankle injury, took 3rd.

Sophia Richardson was Cleveland’s top runner in 8th place and Leta Squier led the ECR Royals with a 9th place finish.

Jocelyn Pacheco wins the first race in 21 months on the Pierce Course taking the girls Varsity race at the West Valley Preview meet on August 19th, 2021.
